Abstract

This project aims to examine the nineteenth century maritime fish cannery site located in American River, Kangaroo Island, South Australia, through the perspective of spatial analysis, and determine whether the spatial decisions for the built spaces are ideological or functional in nature. This will be done through the collection of field data in order to gain an understanding of the history, site layout, and use of the site, in addition to the greater maritime industry of Kangaroo Island and South Australia.
